Cyprus Triathlon Federation participated this year in ITU's World Championship in Austria. The official delegation sent by the Federation was six members of the National Team after a selection of its Coach Mr. Vassilis Krommidas. Mr. Krommidas took upon the task of the Cyprus Triathlon National Team's coaching from January the 1st 2011. In unforeseen weather conditions 7o C (air temperature), a dirt and gravel uphill section on the bike course and after last minutes change of the official distance all athletes gave their all and earned a good result. Mr. Krommidas commented after the race: "Congratulations to all, I am pleased with today's results. Everybody fought hard according to his/her strength. There is always room for improvement in the team. I look forward to continue working with all and producing faster times in the upcoming years". Στα πλαίσια της προσφοράς της η Κυπριακή Ομοσπονδία Τριάθλου θα οργανώσει σχολή επιμόρφωσης για τους προπονητές αλλά και τους αθλητές του τριάθλου.
Εκπαιδευτής θα είναι ο διακεκριμένος αθλητής και προπονητής τριάθλου κ. Βασίλης Κρομμύδας.
Η σχολή θα γίνει στο ξενοδοχείο Golden Arches στη Λεμεσό και θα διαρκέσει δύο μέρες. 2 και 3 Οκτωβρίου 2010.

Προτρέπουμε όλους τους αθλητές και προπονητές τριάθλου να εκμεταλλευτούν τη μοναδική αυτή ευκαιρία και να συμμετέχουν.
Για το σκοπό του σεμιναρίου έγινε διευθέτηση με το ξενοδοχείο και εξασφαλίστηκε ειδικό πακέτο. Διπλό δωμάτιο με πρόγευμα και ένα γεύμα 65 Ευρώ. Τα άλλα γεύματα θα προσφερθούν από την Ομοσπονδία Τριάθλου.

The first off road Triathlon race organized by the Cypriot Triathlon Federation in collaboration with the BikinCyprus Events Management will be held on the 24th October 2010.

The off road Triathlon races are very widespread in America and Europe, the most famous being the X-TERRA series. The races differ from the races of Triathlon on Tarmac as the disciplines of cycling and running take place on forest roads or trails, something that it offers the participants more enthusiasm and action while they feel also attached to the nature.

The first triathlon race off road with the name "White rocks X-Cyprus" will be organized in the region of Governors Beach on 24 October and apart from the official categories of Cypriot Triathlon Federation, will be possible for participation from non - registered members and other individuals in the OPEN category. OPEN Category will be separated in various age-groups. For someone to be able to attend and participate in the OPEN category a Doctors' certificate will be necessary allowing him/her to participate in the particular race.
There will also be a TEAM classification, where each member of a team must compete and complete one of the three sports. Teams must be made up of three athletes.

Each participant will have the choice of distance that it will cover depending on his / her fitness.

The distances are:
Small Distance: Swimming 250[m], Cycling 5[km], Run 2[km]
Intermediate Distance: Swimming 500[m], Cycling 10[km], Run 4[km]
Big distance: Swimming 750[m], Cycling 15[km], Run 6[km]

Τον πρώτο αγώνα τριάθλου έκτος δρόμου ( off road) προγραμματίζει να διοργανώσει η Κυπριακή Ομοσπονδία Τριάθλου σε συνεργασία με την εταιρεία BikinCyprus στις 24 Οκτωβρίου 2010.

Οι αγώνες Τριάθλου σε χωμάτινες διαδρομές είναι πολύ διαδεδομένοι στην Αμερική και την Ευρώπη, με τους πιο γνωστούς να είναι οι αγώνες της σειράς X-TERRA. Οι αγώνες διαφέρουν από τους αγώνες τριάθλου σε ασφάλτινες διαδρομές αφού το αγώνισμα της ποδηλασίας και το τρέξιμο γίνονται σε χωμάτινες διαδρομές ή μονοπάτια, κάτι που προσφέρει στους συμμετέχοντες περισσότερο ενθουσιασμό και δράση ενώ νοιώθουν επίσης πιο κοντά στη φύση.

Ο πρώτος αγώνας τριάθλου εκτός δρόμου με το όνομα «White rocks X-Cyprus» θα  διεξαχθεί στην περιοχή Ακτής του Κυβερνήτη (Governors Beach) στις 24 Οκτωβρίου και εκτός από τις επίσημες κατηγορίες της Κυπριακής Ομοσπονδίας Τριάθλου, θα υπάρχει δυνατότητα συμμετοχής και από άτομα τα οποία θα θέλουν να δοκιμάσουν τις ικανότητες τους στο Τρίαθλο στην κατηγορία OPEN. Η κατηγορία OPEN θα χωρίζεται σε διάφορες ηλικιακές κατηγορίες και για τη συμμετοχή κάποιος χρειάζεται να προσκομίσει κατά την ώρα εγγραφής βεβαίωση γιατρού που να του επιτρέπει την συμμετοχή στο συγκεκριμένο αγώνα.
Θα υπάρχει επίσης δυνατότητα συμμετοχής στην ομαδική κατάταξη όπου το κάθε μέλος της Ομάδας θα διαγωνίζεται σε ένα από τα τρία αθλήματα.

Ο κάθε συμμετέχοντας θα έχει την επιλογή της απόστασης που θα διανύσει ανάλογα με τη φυσική του κατάσταση.

Οι Αποστάσεις θα είναι:
Μικρή Απόσταση: Κολύμπι 250μ, Ποδηλασία 5χλμ, Τρέξιμο 2χλμ
Μεσαία Απόσταση: Κολύμπι 500μ, Ποδηλασία 10χλμ, Τρέξιμο 4χλμ
Μεγάλη απόσταση : Κολύμπι 750μ, Ποδηλασία 15χλμ, Τρέξιμο 6χλμ

Kypros Nicolaou, BSc, MA, Exersice Physiologist, Triathlon Coach and National Team Manager has delivered successfully a seminar in the following topics:

- Youngsters into the sport of triathlon - Development
- Planning the future of a triathlete - perspectives
- The basics of triathlon training / racing
- Entry level to high level of competition
- Various age groups in the sport
- Swim/bike run/basics

Because of the demand of many that could not attend Kypros has agreed to repeat the seminar in the next few months.

Members of the Cyprus' National team left today for Luxemburg to take part in the 2008 Triathlon Championships of the Small States of Europe. Cyprus team is managed by Kypros Nicolaou and consists of Christos Christou, David Simpson and Orpheas Kyriakou in the Elite Men's category, Ioulia Kannava in the Elite Women's category and the young hopes Alexandros and Nicolas Stylianou who are competing in the juniors' race. The race is also an ITU European Cup and the field is expected to be very strong. Our athletes are well prepared for the event and a good placement is expected among the Small States of Europe. Cyprus Triathlon Federation on Friday 14/3/2008 has honouredthe achievements of the athletes for 2006 and 2007.

In a simple awards ceremony held at the Olympic House in Nicosia the best athletes in Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon, Aquathlon and Duathlon for the years 2006 and 2007 have received their prizes and the appreciation of our Federation for their efforts.

Present at the ceremony was amongst other quests the vice-president of the Cyprus Olympic Committee Mr. Demetris Lordos and the member of the Cyprus Olympic committee Mr. Nikos Markoulides. Their presence shows that our National Olympic committee has an interest in what we do and that they value our efforts.

The subject is "Triathlon" and the Photos have to be taken during the 2007 European Triathlon Cup to be held in Limassol on 20th of May 2007.

A large field of competitors in Cyprus' first triathlon of the season was mainly due to the participation of a group of 13 athletes from Trispeed Mamer from Luxemburg. (www.trispeed.lu). Bambos Spanoudes, from the Cyprus Triathlon Federation, had 43 athletes on the start line, 40 doing the Sprint Distance 750/20/5 and three doing the Super-Sprint tri, 300/10/2.5. The K1 Club from RAF Akrotiri was well represented, with 10 members. Patrick Ney, one of the visiting triathletes stormed away on the bike, and clocked an incredible average speed of over 36 kph on the hilly St. Rafael course, eventually winning the race by more than 2 minutes in 57 minutes and 49 seconds. K1's James Redler and two other LUX athletes diced for second place, with Jamie winning the bike duel. Onto the run, gaps appeared, leaving James to finish 3rd by 46 seconds! The second podium place went to Cristian Crombach from Luxemburg who finished in 1:00:02.
Stavros Antoniou was the first Cypriot home, in fifth place in 1:01:58. Four participants from the north of Cyprus made the trip to Limassol to compete, the top placed of which was Murat Mehrübeoglu who finished in 23rd place. See pictures from the event.
