Βραβεύσεις 2009
Οι βραβεύσεις των αθλητών για το 2009 θα πραγματοποιηθούν
στις 26 Φεβρουαρίου 2010 στην αίθουσα εκδηλώσεων
CYTA "Ευ αγωνίζεσθαι" στο Ολυμπιακό
Μέγαρο ΚΟΕ, η ώρα 6:45μμ.
Οι αθλητές που βραβεύονται φαίνονται πιο κάτω.
Τα βραβεία θα πρέπει να παραληφθούν προσωπικά
από τους αθλητές ή σε περίπτωση που υπάρχει
κώλυμα από συγγενικό τους πρόσωπο που πρέπει
να δηλωθεί εκ των προτέρων. Οι αθλητές καλούνται
να είναι ευπρεπώς ενδεδυμένοι όπως αρμόζει σε
τέτοιες περιπτώσεις.
Στην εκδήλωση καλούνται όλοι οι αθλητές του
τριάθλου να παρευρεθούν και να τιμήσουν με την
παρουσία τους συναθλητές τους που βραβεύονται
.
Επίσης προσκαλούνται συγγενείς και φίλοι των
αθλητών να μας τιμήσουν με την παρουσία τους,

24 July 2009 Bay
to Bay Swim

The
annual Cyprus Joint Police Unit Bay to Bay Swim,
will take place on Friday 24th July 2009 in
Happy Valley, on the Western Sovereign Base
Area. The event involves a one nautical mile
sea swim (approx 1800 m) from Lemmings Beach,
Happy Valley, around the headland to what is
known as Tunnel Beach. There are normally over
200 participants, with a competitive race commencing
at 0715hrs, followed by a fun swim at 0730 hrs.
It is one of the premier events in the British
Forces Cyprus calendar.
The cost to enter the event is 15, which
includes a medal and t-shirt. There are separate
trophies for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd in Mens, Ladies,
Childrens & Vets categories. The event is
open to both military and civilians and all
proceeds are to a Service and local Cypriot
charity. It is hoped to hold a Grand Prize Draw
with some excellent opportunities to win meals
out, overnight hotel stays, beauty treatments,
gym membership and so on, all generating further
monies for charity.
Ypu can participate in this event, either for
training or just for fun!

20 March 2009 Awards Ceremony

Cyprus
Triathlon Federation on Friday 20/3/2009 has honoured
the achievements of the athletes for 2008.
In a simple awards ceremony held at the Olympic
House in Nicosia the best athletes in Triathlon,
Sprint Triathlon, Aquathlon and Duathlon for the
year 2008 have received their prizes and the appreciation
of our Federation for their efforts.
Present at the ceremony was amongst other quests
on behalf of the Cyprus Olympic Committee the
president Mr. Ouranios Ioannides the vice-president
Mr. Demetris Lordos and the general secretary
Mr. Chalalambos Lottas. Their presence shows that
our National Olympic committee has an interest
in what we do and that they value our efforts.
A reception followed for all our quests and athletes.

Nicolaou, BSc, MA, Exersice Physiologist,
Triathlon Coach and National Team Manager
has delivered successfully a seminar in the
following topics:
- Youngsters into the sport of triathlon -
Development
- Planning the future of a triathlete - perspectives
- The basics of triathlon training / racing
- Entry level to high level of competition
- Various age groups in the sport
- Swim/bike run/basics
Because
of the demand of many that could not attend
Kypros has agreed to repeat the seminar in
the next few months.

21 August 2008 Mission to Luxemburg
|
|
Members
of the Cyprus' National team left today for
Luxemburg to take part in the 2008
Triathlon Championships of the Small States
of Europe. Cyprus team is managed
by Kypros Nicolaou and consists of Christos
Christou, David Simpson and Orpheas Kyriakou
in the Elite Men's category, Ioulia Kannava
in the Elite Women's category and the young
hopes Alexandros and Nicolas Stylianou who are
competing in the juniors' race. The race is
also an ITU European Cup and the field is expected
to be very strong. Our athletes are well prepared
for the event and a good placement is expected
among the Small States of Europe. Previous

Federation in cooperation with the Cyprus Photographic
Society.
The
subject is "Triathlon" and the Photos
have to be taken during the 2007 European Triathlon
Cup to be held in Limassol on 20th of May 2007.

A
large field of competitors in Cyprus' first
triathlon of the season was mainly due to
the participation of a group of 13 athletes
from Trispeed Mamer from Luxemburg. (www.trispeed.lu).
Bambos Spanoudes, from the Cyprus Triathlon
Federation, had 43 athletes on the start line,
40 doing the Sprint Distance 750/20/5 and
three doing the Super-Sprint tri, 300/10/2.5.
The K1 Club from RAF Akrotiri was well represented,
with 10 members. Patrick Ney, one of the visiting
triathletes stormed away on the bike, and
clocked an incredible average speed of over
36 kph on the hilly St. Rafael course, eventually
winning the race by more than 2 minutes in
57 minutes and 49 seconds. K1's James Redler
and two other LUX athletes diced for second
place, with Jamie winning the bike duel. Onto
the run, gaps appeared, leaving James to finish
3rd by 46 seconds! The second podium place
went to Cristian Crombach from Luxemburg who
finished in 1:00:02.
Stavros Antoniou was the first Cypriot home,
in fifth place in 1:01:58. Four participants
from the north of Cyprus made the trip to
Limassol to compete, the top placed of which
was Murat Mehrübeoglu who finished in
23rd place. See

next CYTRIFED triathlon is on 7 May at St.
Rafael marina in Limassol.
